Medium/Low Resolution Satellite Imagery

In addition to our high-resolution satellite imagery, eMap International also offers medium and low-resolution digital imagery. With medium and low-resolution data, it is possible to obtain large area coverage for use in a wide-range of applications including, environmental modeling, flight simulations, mineral exploration, weather forecasting and 3D visualization. eMap International offers data from the following medium and low-resolution satellites:

  • IRS 1C & 1D – these are medium-resolution satellites that obtain 5-meter panchromatic or natural color digital imagery in swaths that are 70-km wide. IRS 1C and 1D data is only offered from an archive.
  • OrbView-2 – a low-resolution satellite that obtains data with a swath width of 2,800-km and spatial resolution of 1.1-km. Eight spectral bands of information are available from the visible to the near-infrared spectrum. OrbView-2 data can be purchased from an archive or as a new collection.
  • RESOURCESAT-1 – a medium-resolution satellite that is equipped with three different imaging systems each with a unique suite of panchromatic and multispectral sensors. Data can be obtained with either 5.8-m, 23.5-m or 56-m spatial resolution with swath widths of 23.9-km, 141-km and 740-km respectively. RESOURCESAT-1 data is only offered from an archive.

Purchasing digital imagery is a complicated task. As such, we encourage you to contact our Sales Team at (720) 470-7988 for advice on aligning project requirements with the various product offerings. In the meantime, the following table offers general recommendations to get you started with your imagery purchase:

Imagery Application Product Recommendation
Engineering planning & design; site survey; GIS back-drop; interesting picture Georeferenced natural color
Impervious surface mapping; vegetation study; forestry; oil & gas; mining Georeferenced
4-band pansharpened
Spectral analysis; classification; academic investigation Georeferenced bundle
Feature extraction; urban planning Terrain rectified or orthorectified natural color

eMap Proprietary ImageBoost

In the works for over a year, eMap International is proud to unveil its one-of-a-kind image enhancement process known as ImageBoost. Designed for any raster dataset, the ImageBoost process will maximize the spatial information often hidden behind deep shadows, over-saturation, poor color balancing and light haze; and will thus maximize the value of every geospatial dollar you spend.

ImageBoost is a proprietary multi-stage process that employs both automated techniques as well as manual intervention to deliver you a ready-to-use imagery product with enhanced colors and crisper edges. While ImageBoost cannot change the inherent resolution of your data, it can unveil features lost by most completely automated processing techniques. ImageBoost is robust enough to be used to improve existing raster datasets you may already own. Check out the following comparison of the ImageBoost process to decide if it is right for you.
